Atomic Wallet wins $100 million class action lawsuit dismissal
Recently, a US judge’s ruling to dismiss a $100 million class action lawsuit against Atomic Wallet and its associates has attracted widespread attention. The ruling indicates that the Colorado court does not have jurisdiction over the Estonia-based Atomic Wallet, its CEO and the development company.
In his order on September 10, Colorado Judge Philip Brimmer stated that the apparent connection between Atomic Wallet and Colorado is insufficient to prove the court’s jurisdiction over the company. The plaintiffs had sued Atomic Wallet for a hack, but the court found that the company had no substantial connection to the United States.
The judge emphasized that Atomic Wallet, as a software application, can be delivered to users without user location information, which is very different from traditional businesses that need to deliver tangible goods. In addition, he gave the plaintiffs an additional 21 days to further explain why the lawsuit against one of the defendants should continue.
