LayerZero Airdrop Success: CEO on the “Great Witch Hunt” and User Advocacy
Bryan Pellegrino, CEO of LayerZero, stressed that the “Great Witch Hunt” and the participation of long-term users were key factors in the success of the ZRO airdrop. Through active Sybil filtering, LayerZero ensures the stability of its native token price in the market, a strategy that stands in stark contrast to competitors such as Starknet and ZKsync.
At the recent Korea Blockchain Week, Pellegrino pointed out that LayerZero has taken several unique measures to get ZRO tokens into the hands of loyal users, including the implementation of Robust Sybil Hunting. “Our goal is to reward real users, the most loyal and persistent users,” he said. This strategy has resulted in ZRO prices falling only 23% even when there was strong opposition to the implementation of donations to receive airdrops.
In contrast, Starknet and ZKsync have encountered major challenges due to their over-reliance on insiders and lack of effective protection measures. Pellegrino reminded all teams conducting airdrops to focus on “closing the gap between expectations and reality” and strive to balance the two.
As LayerZero operates in a more transparent and fair manner, we encourage more community members to share their voices and ideas to jointly promote the development and innovation of the industry.
